Marvelous Monday

Today we began our day by graphing the length of the animals we had measured on Friday. We graphed the number of blocks each animal was and then using the data on the graph wrote a sentence describing whether the animal was long or short. After our story practice and P.E., we came back to the classroom to create an art piece to represent our winter tree. We noticed that the tree looked dead but instead was "sleeping" during the cold months. We talked about the book we had read at the beginning of the year, Fletcher and the Falling Leaves, and remembered that the tree was okay in the winter. This time we created our tree using sharpie and sparkle glue. We feel that it represented what we noticed outside in the snow.

Reminder:
Wednesday is our Celebration of Learning. Tickets were sent home last week and it is important that you keep them in a safe place and bring them on the night of the Celebration. They will be required for entry.

Parent Information for the Celebration of Learning Evening performance
On the night of the performance, the front of the school doors will open at 6:00pm. Please come into the front entrance of the school with your child. Please bring your child into the learning commons area (library). Kindergarten teachers will be waiting to greet your child. You can then go into the gym to find a seat. Kindergarten students will remain with their classmates and teachers for the remainder of the performance. Once the opening performance has finished, Kindergarten will be taken back to the learning commons to wait for parent pick up. Parents who are not going to watch siblings perform throughout the school will come directly to the learning commons to pick up their child. Please make sure you check in with your child's teacher upon pick up so we can sign your child out. If you are attending individual classroom storytelling events, your Kindergarten child will stay in the Learning Commons until the end of the evening.

A note from the office:
As mentioned before, each family will receive 2 tickets. It is essential that you keep these tickets in a safe place and bring them with you on the evening your child(ren) perform.  On the back of the ticket it identifies where students in Grades 1-4 will be performing their story, after the opening performances in the gymnasium.

Due to the size of our school population, the size of our gymnasium, the number of people attending each evening and fire code regulations, we are only able to accommodate 1 person per ticket.  This also includes younger siblings, which means that babies and small children will not be permitted to sit on your lap unless they have a ticket upon entrance. We do recognize that this is not ideal for some families, and we would like to thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation in ensuring that every student has a family member in the audience.
