Today after morning meeting, we talked about another way we can help others- by spreading cheer during the holiday season. We discussed the fun things we like to do with our family over the holidays and then talked about how we would feel if we were alone during that time. To help out people who don't have family and friends to celebrate with, we created cards to send Christmas messages. These cards will be given to elderly in our community. We did a great job decorating our cards using finger paints.

We also read the book, The Wish Tree, today. This story was about a boy looking for a wish tree and along his journey he stopped to help out lots of forest friends get the things they needed for food and shelter. In the end, the helped him find the tree. We discussed how helping others makes us feel and how when we help, we might make new friends. We also used the book to start a conversation on the background of pictures and how they help us understand the context of the story. We then drew our own background for scenes sledding, at the beach and playing toys in our house.
In P.E. today, we played a couple of tag games which help us to stay in control of our body and find personal space.
How to extend my learning at home:
- Using the scene below, talk about how the background helps with the context of the picture and helps us understand what is happening.
Reminders:
-Warm Feet for the Street is this Thursday, December 6th from 6:00-7:30pm for those who RSVP'd.
-There is NO school for kindergarten on Friday, December 7th.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Patten
