Wonderful Wednesday

Today we put our ideas into action to help others. We got the chance to decorate lunch bags to give to Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids, something we decided we wanted to do after the presentation by Ms. Jessica. We drew happy pictures such as hearts, rainbows, flowers and smiley faces to show other students that we care about them and believe that all children deserve lunch each and every day. We will be giving these bags to the organization for them to use as they need.

We also started a conversation we will continue tomorrow about the cold and how we keep warm and safe when the temperatures drop. The students began asking questions about this topic as a big bobcat started to scrape off our compound of ice. It was an exciting time and we all got to stop and take a look outside. This conversation relates very well to our school wide initiative Warm Feet for the Street, as we talk about what people who don't have a home might need as it gets colder.

How to extend my learning at home:
- help me find the letter Aa in words in books that you read together
- talk about how we prepare for colder weather in a variety of ways

Reminders:
There is no school for AM kindergarten this Friday, November 30th.

Please see the message below from the Grade Two students.

As Warm Feet for the Street nears, we are still looking for donations to help support the cause!

Great items to donate are:

  • soap
  • toothbrush/toothpaste
  • lip balm
  • travel sized: shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, razors
  • Tim Horton's gift card
  • Bus tickets
The event is on December 6 from 6:00-7:30pm. If you are still wanting to come, it is $5 per family to stuff a sock. Please make sure you RSVP by December 3rd!

Thank you for your support as we work together to help others in need.

From: The Grade Twos

Kind regards,
Mrs. Patten
