Wonderful Wednesday

It was another fun day in kindergarten. This morning we enjoyed some math subitizing and counting challenges. Mrs. Patten showed us some dice and 5-frame dots on the board and we had to write down the number of dots we saw. We liked this challenge and tried hard to write the numerals we knew. We also shared our ideas about how we knew that the number of dots. Some of our ideas included:

- there are two dots and two dots which makes four
- the dots are in a line
- there is one dot at the top, one in the middle and one in the bottom

We then had the challenge of figuring out a mystery number. Using a number line, Mrs. Patten told us the number was between 4 and 8. This was more difficult but we are enjoying trying to share our thinking. Talking through our mathematical thinking helps us to understand the concepts we are learning.

We also practiced drawing the letter Uu today. It was tricky to make sure the tail on our U stayed close to the line. We will keep working on this. Our drawing today was a guided drawing of an umbrella.

Today we had music with Ms. Lysak. Ask me what we did.

Reminders:
- Tomorrow is Jersey Day. Students are welcome to wear their favourite team jersey.
- Please send back the notice for our Food Impact Presentation as soon as possible.

Kind regards,
Mrs. Patten
