It was another terrific day in kindergarten. We worked on our letter of the week Kk by watching some songs. We recognized that Kk is a hard sound to find words for since the letter Cc also makes the same sound but we came up with some to draw in our books.
We also read the story Lost and Found about a boy and a penguin. The boy wanted to get the penguin back home to the South Pole but when they got there, the penguin was sad and didn't want to go. The boy realized that the penguin was lonely and needed a home with a family. We used this book to talk about the difference between a house and a home. We decided we needed a home with our family too- to care for us and keep us safe.
Thanks for Quinn, our top banana for sharing her special teddy with us today. Our top banana tomorrow is Jemika.
Kindergarten would also like to wish Owin a happy 5th birthday.
Reminders:
Halloween
With next Wednesday being Halloween, students are welcome to wear their halloween costumes or pajamas. Students will be involved in their regular learning activities including music so we ask that they are able to move and see without restriction. Any costumes that include masks or weapons should be left at home for evening festivities. Please send regular snacks only that day :)
Parent Volunteers
Mrs. Patten is looking for 2 parent volunteers for Thursday, November 1st from 9:45-11:00. If you are available, please email lmpatten@cbe.ab.ca
Popcorn Snack
Kindergarten students have the option to take part in popcorn snacks days at the school. If you would like to order a popcorn snack for your child, you need to sign up with the provider Healthy Hunger (www.healthyhunger.ca). If you do not already have an account, you will need to sign up for one. After you have signed up, you can add your child by using the add/manage students option. You will need to select New Brighton School and Mrs. Patten's AM kindergarten class. Please let me know if you need any support with this.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Patten
