After this math task, we read the book, Sometimes I feel Like a Fox. We discussed how in different cultures, such as Indigenous groups, animals are valued and respected differently. In those cases, people are sometimes given animal names that represent their characteristics. For example, brave like a bear, clever like a fox. The students discussed this idea and then after reading the book, decided on an animal that they associated with. Students then drew a self-portrait before adding features of the animal they had chosen. We will continue with this work tomorrow.
In P.E. today, we had a guest who started to teach about Aussie Rules Football. We got to pick, catch and and throw the ball today.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Patten

Kindergarten Field Trip - Important Parent Information
|
Kindergarten Parents and Guardians,
We are currently planning a school off-site activity to Telus Spark. To allow students enough time to participate in a learning program during their visit, this will be a full day field trip. In order to accommodate both the AM and PM classes, we have had to make some adjustments to the kindergarten calendar.
Morning (AM) kindergarten students will be going to Telus Spark on Tuesday, April 16th, 2019. Therefore, AM Kindergarten students will attend school ALL DAY on Tuesday, April 16th, 2019. They will need to arrive at school 8:10am and will be dismissed at 3:10pm. AM Kindergarten students will NOT attend school on Thursday, April 18th, 2019.
Afternoon (PM) kindergarten students will be going to Telus Spark on Thursday, April 18th, 2019. Therefore, PM Kindergarten students will attend school ALL DAY on Thursday, April 18th, 2019. They need to arrive at school 8:10am and will be dismissed at 3:10pm. PM Kindergarten students will NOT attend school on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.
Field trip forms will be sent home with all students after Spring Break.
We hope this advanced notice will allow families the time to make alternate arrangements for their children on the days they will not be attending school.
Kind regards,
The Kindergarten Team
