Wonderful Wednesday

It is great to be back in the swing of things at school. We began our day with new learning tubs focussed on literacy and numeracy. After tubs, we did a SMART board activity to sort words that started with either Ee or Oo, our two letters of the week.

Mrs. Patten read us a story called, Me Want Pet, about a cave boy who wanted a pet and how he overcame the problems in the story of finding a pet. We then were asked, "What if we got a class pet? What could we get?" Using a variety of books about animals, we started some research into this question and came up with some of our own ideas.

Hamster because they are cute - Sadie, Ronan
Dog because they love each other and people, are cute, cuddle and go for walks - Karis, Ryleigh, Kyle, Bennett, Presley
Cat because they are cute - Lincoln and Jemika
Horse because we can ride it - Quinn
Bear because they fight - Owin
Lizard because they are cool and eat bugs - Kaeson
Bird because they can fly around the class and are easy to care for - Winston and Hannah
Wolf because the babies are cute and they are nice - Tristan and Braelyn
Moose because they are big and cute - Eldana

Over the next while we will continue to talk about animals and pets. We also enjoyed new centers in our classroom and drumming with Ms. Lysak in music.

Reminders:
The next round of top banana starts next Monday, January 14th. Please check your child's backpack for the information and the schedule. This time we will be sharing which animals we would like as pets and how we would care for them.
