We enjoyed our day today in kindergarten. Mrs. Patten gave us some number lines with missing numbers. We had to figure out the missing numerals and then draw, record and talk about why we knew that was the missing number. It was hard sometimes to talk about the why but we are getting better at explaining our mathematical thinking. After listening to Goldilocks and the Three Bears, we did another sequencing activity where we tried to talk about the story using visuals and the language first, then, last. We are still enjoying our new centers as well.
After P.E. we finished our day with our new mystery box challenge. Mrs. Patten had something in a box that either an animal or a person would need. We had to use some scientific questioning to try and figure out what it was! Ask me what was in the box and how we found out.
How to extend my learning at home:
- Talk about daily activities such as getting ready for school using the language first, then, last
- Practice counting from 1 to 10 and 10 to 1 using any items you find around the house.
Reminders:
Tomorrow is our Food Impact Pita Presentation. Students will have an opportunity to eat their snack after they create it so may not need as much snack as they normally do.
Please remember to send back Warm Feet for the Street forms and money. This initiative is a great one to tie into our theme of helping others. If you have any donations to send, please drop them by the school or have your child bring them in.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Patten
