Terrific Tuesday

It was another wonderful day in kindergarten. We continued to discuss how we are special and unique...just the way we are. We coloured our work from yesterday and did a sharing circle to share with our friends some of the ways we are special.

We also learned the word subitize in kindergarten today.  Subitizing is the ability to tell the number of objects in a set, quickly, without counting. One example of when we subitize is after rolling a dice. We practiced subitizing with a dice on the smart board. We will continue to work on this skill over the next little while.

We were excited to try out three new centers today, the kitchen center, the block center and painting. Mrs. Patten saw lots of tall towers (including a hotel), diners eating at the kitchen center and some creative art.

How to extend my learning at home:
- discuss words that start with the letter Ii (our letter of the week)
- play games that involve dice so students can practice subitizing

Reminders:
- tomorrow is picture day. Don't forgot to wear those special clothes
- our Top Banana tomorrow is Bennett

Kind regards,
Mrs. Patten
